Home-Start North Down

There for parents when they need us most,
because childhood can't wait

About Us

Home-Start North Down is a local charity which has provided invaluable support and friendship to families with young children in the North Down area since 1989.

Home- Start North Down is affiliated to the national charity, Home-Start UK, but we are autonomous and responsible for our own management and securing our own funding.

The charity is run by a Board of Trustees, who are responsible for governance and setting the direction of the scheme.

Home-Start North Down recruits and trains volunteers from the North Down area. We then carefully match a volunteer with a family in need of support.

We have approx. 25 volunteers either visiting families at home, fundraising on our behalf or supporting families at Family Group sessions.

Volunteers are from all walks of life, each and every one a parent or even grandparent, all with a little free time available each week to help provide emotional and practical help to local families. Support is confidential, flexible and totally responsive to the family’s needs.  We have a specialist trained family support team that offer bespoke programmes to families.
